Dalbeattie ~ Valley of Birch

I may, when time permits, quote from a book on the history of the town, but for now I will just say that this is the place where my Great Great Granddad John Drain and his family (including his father-in law, James McTurk settled to work at the quarry. (note: James McTurk eventually remarried and emigrated to work at Newalls quarry in Massachusettes).

Dalbeattie is 'The Granite Town of South West Scotland'. The name Dalbeattie comes from Gaelic Dail Bheithe meaning "valley of birch"

Here is a series of videos I have found on "You Tube".... not my own, but maybe on my next visit, I will do a video myself.
